SAVE OUR ELMS

SAVE OUR ELMS is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of street trees in the City of Portland, Oregon. Our primary focus is the inoculation of American Elm trees to resist Dutch Elm Disease.

SOE Affiliate Groups operate in Ladd's Addition, Mount Tabor, Richmond School, Grand Park, Laurelhurst, SW Hills neighborhoods. Each affiliate conducts local fund raising activities to purchase fungicide which is injected into the root flare of the elm trees.

Each tree must be treated on a three year cycle. Cost for the inoculation ranges from $125 - $200 per tree depending on its size. Over 600 trees are inoculated by SAVE OUR ELMS in Portland neighborhoods. The annual cost is over $30,000.

SOE is awarded the 2010 Bill Naito Community Trees Award. Goto "What's New" for more info. . . . . . . . . . Prune elm trees only between October 15th and March 31st. . . . . . . . . . .
