Volunteers needed for annual SOE Tree Planting - Ladd's Addition.
For 24 years SAVE OUR ELMS has provided Ladd's Addition property owners with new street trees, free of charge, and organized the volunteers to plant them.
This year SAVE OUR ELMS volunteers will have planted over 600 street tree in Ladd's Addition. This is one part of our mission to maintain the neighborhood's Urban Canopy for future generations.

Saturday, March 13, 2010 9:00 AM - Tree Planting in Ladd's Addition
Join your neighbors in planting 24 new street trees.
- Gather in front of Palio's Desert House on Ladd Circle at 9 AM.
- Bring your shovel and plan to play in the mud.
- Also bring hand clippers and long handled pruners if you can. We will be doing some "Low Limb" pruning on some of the younger replacement elms.

Do not prune Elms after March 31st. Spring is when the elm bark beetle is most active.

Saturday, May 1, 2010 - SOE Donor and Volunteer Appreciation Day
Please join us in a celebration of our successes! SOE donors and volunteers (both past and present) are invited to join us for an afternoon of fun at the Lucky Labrador Pub.
- It's May Day.
- Ladd's Addition was name one of the Best Neighborhoods in the country to live.
- 150 street trees have been pruned in Ladd's Addition by our Pruning Initiative Program.
- SOE Volunteers have planted 545 new street trees in Ladd's Addition since 1990.
- 2010 in the 15th Anniversary of SAVE OUR ELMS.

Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM,
Meet at Palio's Elm Room 1996 SE Ladd Ave.
Inoculation Day Schedule:
- Approx. 90 American Elms to be injected in 2010.
- 8:30 AM Orientation & Instructions. Volunteers meet at Elm Room inside of Palio's.
- 9:00 AM Inoculations begin.
- 11:30 AM (approx.) Break for Lunch.
- 12:30 PM Finish inoculating any remaining trees (if any).
- 5:00 PM Collect and remove trash and recyclable materials from inoculation area.

Another Annual Impromptu Neighborhood Event.
Starts on upper Elliott Ave. goes round and round the Center Circle continues down lower Elliott to the Abernethy Playground. Take a look at photos from last year's parade.

Bring a potluck dish to share (plus your own dishes & utensils).

YOUR NEWLY PLANTED TREES STILL NEED WATER!!
- 10 gallons per week.
- Hint: Make a small hole in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket place it at the base of the tree and fill it up twice a week.
- Make a donation to SOE to help maintain our mature tree canopy.
